How do you go about getting coders interested?
I founded Akvo.org in late 2006. The purpose of Akvo is to accelerate the implementation of sustainable water and sanitation solutions for the more than 2 billion people that do not have any. Akvo is like a Wikipedia for water and sanitation knowledge, eBay and YouTube for water and sanitation projects, rolled into one.
We have lots of interest for what we are doing and we have signed up a whole bunch of partners in the water and sanitation development aid-sector. We have raised money and now we are building an open platform for this. The components which will be built by us will be released under a GPL license. We are releasing the first web application (Akvo Really Simple Reporting) the end of this summer.
